I've used two organza ribbons here but you can use any type of ribbon, not too wide and any colour that suite your chosen stitched piece and fabric.
Make a loop start and push the needle through the underside of the ribbon/ribbons leaving a tail of at least 10cms if starting in the bottom centre.

Push the needle back through the ribbon and through both front and back.

Continue all the way around pushing the ribbon close together each time.
