Pull the thread tight and repeat from the same side until the reach the next corner.
Then sew through the holes at each point again to secure them. (This also helps to give the corners a nice shape.)
Once sewn through continue with the previous step of sewing the backstitch lines together. It may be easier to sew through a few and then pull the thread tight as it is a little tricky to push the fabric round a point.
